Dr. Connie Mariano
Key note address at UAA
October 14th, 2011

This is a video podcast of Dr. Connie Mariano’s key note address at the University of Alaska Anchorage on October 14th, 2011.  This key note address is part of the celebration of the 2011 Filipino American History Month.   Dr. Mariano is the first military woman to become the White House Physician to Presidents H. W. Bush and Clinton, the first woman to be the Director of the White House Medical Unit, and the first Filipino American in US history to become a Navy Rear Admiral.  After completing 24 years of active duty service in the Navy, Dr. Mariano retired and became a consultant in the Executive health Program at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. Then in 2005, she went on to establish the Center for Executive Medicine, a medical concierge practice which provides presidential-quality medical care to CEOs and their families. She recently published a book entitled, The White House Doctor.  Her book will be available for purchase at the event, and there will be time for book signing. As a successful woman of color in the healthcare field and in the military, her story is truly inspirational.
