Key Personnel - Gabriel Garcia, PhD, MA, MPH

 

GarciaDr. Garcia is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at UAA Department of Health Sciences.  He received his bachelor’s degree at UC Davis in 1997 and master’s degrees at Boston University in 2001.  From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a Research Associate at UAA Institute for Circumpolar Health Studies.  In 2002, he was awarded the Short-Term Service Award by the Alaska Public Health Association.  In 2008, Dr. Garcia received his Ph.D. in Public Health with a minor in Cultural Anthropology at UCLA.  His research interests include health promotion and disease prevention, media and communication, chronic diseases, health risk behaviors, and health disparities.
